AI generation

Four ways to generate flashcards with AI

Each mode calls a different underlying model. All four produce a question-and-answer card that you review and edit before saving.

Simple generation

Type a one-line prompt — "Krebs cycle intermediates" or "Battle of Hastings causes and effects" — and get a flashcard Q&A pair back in seconds. Powered by Groq Llama 3.3 70B for fast turnaround. Good for discrete facts, definitions, and terminology.

20 generations / day

Interactive generation

Paste rich notes — tables, bullet points, structured text — into the editor and generate a card from the content. Powered by Google Gemini 2.5 Flash, which handles complex structured content well. The generated card reflects your specific source material, not a generic summary.

5 generations / day

Audio-to-flashcard

Upload an audio file — a lecture recording, voice memo, or podcast clip. Groq Whisper large-v3-turbo transcribes it, then Llama 3.3 70B extracts a flashcard from the transcript. Accepts MP3, M4A, WAV, and most common audio formats.

Shared 20 / day limit

Image-to-flashcard

Photograph a textbook page, diagram, slide, or handwritten note. Gemini 2.5 Flash vision reads the image and generates a card from the visible content. Multiple images can be uploaded per generation.

Spaced repetition

SM-2 scheduling — the same algorithm as Anki

ReviseNow uses the SM-2 algorithm published by Piotr Wozniak in 1987 and used by every serious flashcard system since.

Three rating buttons

Again — blanked completely. Card resets; comes back in minutes.

Got Some — remembered but struggled. Short interval, under a week.

Got It — clean recall. Interval stretches: 1 day → 3 days → multiplied by ease factor each time.

Four card statuses

Cards move through New → Learning (interval < 7 days) → Review (7–20 days) → Mastered (21+ days). Each subject shows a mastery ring and a due-today count so you always know where you stand.

Ease factor

Each card has an ease factor (minimum 1.3) that adjusts based on your ratings. Cards you consistently recall well get longer intervals. Cards you consistently blank on stay in frequent rotation until they stick.

Notes editor

Rich-text notes per topic

Every topic has a persistent rich-text notes editor alongside its flashcards. The toolbar includes:

  • Headings (H1–H3), bold, italic, underline, strikethrough
  • Ordered and unordered lists
  • Inline and block links
  • Images with resize handles and alignment (left / centre / right)
  • Text and background color pickers
  • Horizontal rule, blockquote

The interactive AI generator reads from the notes editor directly — write structured notes, then generate cards from them without copy-pasting.

Quiz mode

AI multiple-choice quiz

Each subject has a quiz mode. Choose 5, 10, 15, or 20 questions. The app sends your existing card set to Groq Llama 3.3 70B, which generates four-option multiple-choice questions with one correct answer each.

After submitting, you get a score and a per-question breakdown showing which you got right. Quiz history is stored per subject so you can track improvement over time.

Not a qbank replacement, but useful for active recall sessions between practice exams and for spotting gaps before an in-class test.

Where ReviseNow fits

ReviseNow is built for students who are making cards from their own material — not for students who need pre-built community decks.

Everything else

Card reminders

Flag a card with a reminder for tomorrow, 2 days, 3 days, 5 days, 1 week, or 2 weeks. A banner appears at the top of the topic page when reminders come due. Reminders count toward your due-today total alongside scheduled SM-2 reviews.

Progress tracking

Each subject shows total cards, mastered count, due-today count, and a circular mastery ring. The dashboard lists all subjects vertically, drag-to-reorder. Per-subject quiz history tracks your scores over time.

Free tier

Unlimited subjects, topics, and cards. AI generation capped at 20 simple generations and 5 interactive generations per user per day — resets at UTC midnight. No payment required, no card cap, no paywall on core review features. Sign in with email or Google.
